We collaborated with NTT Sonority, a subsidiary of NTT specializing in audio-related businesses, to design the default startup and operation sounds for their innovative open-ear headphones, “nwm ONE.” These headphones allow users to enjoy high-quality music while still hearing the surrounding sounds.The development concept of the product, which features open-ear pads that do not cover the ears, is “Co-being” rather than immersion. The technology behind this, based on NTT’s Personalized Sound Zone (PSZ), uses inverted sound waveforms to minimize sound leakage without covering the ears. We worked closely on the design, refining each sound in collaboration with Kuniyuki Takahashi.
